Dealing with usability in an agile domain
Add to calendarThe integration of usability engineering and agile software development practices is an emerging challenge. Both the agile and the HCI community have recognized the need to incorporate efficient usability practices in this domain. However it is not an easy problem to address. Two complementary paths could be marked out to achieve this goal: search strategies for the incorporation of usability and HCI techniques and activities into an agile software development process; and exploring approaches for incorporating usability heuristics that are helpful for building usable software.
Call for Papers XP2010 Workshop:
Issues Our goal is to bring together researchers and practitioners to facilitate stimulating discussions on the following issues: - Implications of usability in agile environments - Alternatives for integrating HCI techniques in an agile process - Approaches for incorporating usability requirements into agile artifacts - Open issues in the integration of agile and usability
Process/Mechanics The workshop will be structured around presentation and discussion of position papers followed by a final debate. To present in the workshop, contributors would be required to submit a position paper or an experience report about the previous issues to the workshop proponents (agustin.yague@upm.es, ammoreno@fi.upm.es) by April 30, 2010. Those submissions should not exceed 4 pages in length in Springer’s LNBIP format. Accepted papers will be published electronilcally with its corresponding ISSN using CEUR facilities(http://ftp.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/Publications/CEUR-WS/).
The Workshop is scheduled in a 90 minutes session. It will be structured around presentation and discussion of all individual position papers followed by a final debate about the current practice and open issues in the integration of usability and agility.
