A group workshop on ideas, practices, tools and principles that help us focus development effort on things that really matter and deliver value efficiently with software, such as eliminating waste, providing focus in scope/specifications, providing visibility of business goals to developers and development progress to business, improving feedback, testing ideas and confirming that they work or don’t work.

The introduction to the workshop will be based on related workshops at AltNetUK 09, XPDay 09 and SPA 2010 and the participants will then work in groups focusing on one of the topics.

Process/Mechanics

00:00 - 00:30 a summary ideas from related workshops at AltNET UK 09, XPDay 09 London and SPA 2010; a presentation of the current state of the mind-map

00:20 - 01:00 group discussion, brainstorming and generating new ideas. I will facilitate the discussion making sure that there is a constant flow of ideas and that nobody takes over for too long, taking notes on a flip-chart

01:00 - 02:15 we break out into teams and each team gets assigned an area to explore further. they discuss experiences, compare ideas, make a list of things that worked good and why they worked, build a list of things to read and interesting resources

02:15 - 03:00 each groups present results of their discussions in turn
